The collection is ideal for those who don’t have a computer or internet connection at home, but need access for study, school work or job seeking purposes. For over 50s take home a Tablet and "Try before you buy a device" or get started online and explore!

Tech for Loan Collection

The Arlec Energy Cost Meter is designed to measure the energy use of household electrical appliances, giving you a better idea of the true cost of ownership for your most used appliances. The Arlec Energy Cost Meter:

  • Measures energy use of household electrical appliances
  • Calculates running cost of household appliances
  • Displays voltage, current, power, power used and cost
  • Helps save energy by identifying appliances with high energy consumption so that their use can be more efficiently managed

No computer at home? Borrow one from Newcastle Libraries! Our laptops also come with Microsoft Office installed so you can use Word and Excel from anywhere.

  • The maximum loan period is two-weeks
  • Collection available for pick up from the Wallsend & City Libraries only
